The GE IS220PPROS1B Emergency Turbine Protection I/O Pack is a critical component in GE’s Mark VIe Distributed Control System (DCS).
It’s designed to provide backup protection for turbines, ensuring safe operation in case of primary control failures.
Key Features:
1. Backup Overspeed Protection: Monitors turbine speed and initiates a trip if it exceeds preset limits.
2. Generator Synchronization Check: Verifies that the generator is synchronized to the utility grid before connecting.
3. Primary Control Watchdog: Monitors the health of the primary control system and initiates a trip if necessary.
4. Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR): Uses three redundant I/O packs for enhanced reliability.
5. Ethernet Communication: Connects to the control modules via Ethernet for IONet communications.
6. Integration with Trip Boards: Connects to emergency trip boards (TREG, TREL, TRES, TREA) to initiate trips.
