The GE IS220PPROS1B Emergency Turbine Protection I/O Pack is a critical component in GE’s Mark VIe series of Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
It serves as a backup overspeed protection system and independent watchdog for the primary control system.
Key functions and features:
1. Backup Overspeed Protection: Monitors turbine speed and initiates a trip if it exceeds safe limits.
2. Generator Synchronization Check: Ensures safe synchronization of the generator to the utility grid.
3. Independent Watchdog: Monitors the health of the primary control system and initiates a trip if it fails.
4. Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR): Provides high reliability and fault tolerance.
5. Ethernet Communication: Connects to the control modules via IONet for configuration and monitoring.
